The Charlotte 49ers women’s soccer team will host the Richmond Spiders in an Atlantic 10 battle Sunday at 1pm at Transamerica Field.  Charlotte is coming off a 2-1 overtime win against league newcomer VCU on Friday that saw Amanda Jones score the game’s winning goal with just three seconds left in the first overtime period.

Scouting Richmond: The Spiders enter today’s game 5-5-0 (1-0 A-10) after taking care of George Washington on the road, 2-0.  Becca Wann and Violet Miller scored the game’s only two goals.

Player to Watch: Wann, a junior and the reigning offensive player of the year, is the unquestioned standout player for this Richmond team with five goals, and the Niners will have to keep her in check in order to have a shot at opening their league schedule at 2-0.  She has missed all but three games due to injury, so she could conceivably have much more than five goals.

Last Matchup: This is the first time the Niners and Spiders have matched up since October 17, 2010, a 1-0 win for the Niners at Transamerica.  Brooke Mulloy scored the game’s lone goal.
