Charlotte 49ers Men's Soccer Defeat Duquesne Dukes 2-1, Next Up: VCU Rams

Friday night at Transamerica was a chiller, but the weather didn’t stop the Charlotte 49ers from getting the W. Right off the bat, within the first minute, Jennings Rex tapped one into the nylon off a feed from Giuseppe Gentile. But then, in the 15th minute Martin Fiemawhle got hold of a rebound off the 49ers post and chipped it in from about 15 yards out bringing life into the Dukes.

That life would soon end as Charlotte absolutely dominated play throughout, but the reward for hard play wouldn’t come until the last minute. After a huge scuffle in front of the Duquesne net, resulting in players on the ground, the Niners got awarded an oh so sweet penalty kick. Tyler Gibson would not let this opportunity go to waste, and drilled it past the Dukes keeper for the game winner.

Preview: VCU Rams

The Rams come into this one with a 4-1 defeat of Charlotte in the regular season. This will be a hard-nosed, all out battle. Atlantic 10’s offensive player of the year Jason Johnson leads this squad, and looks to spoil the fun for the Queen City Army.

Will that happen? Tune in to find out. Charlotte. VCU. 7:30pm Friday. Let November Nuttiness ensue.
