It was an even colder night Friday than it was Thursday, and unfortunately the bitterness will not leave even when Niner Nation finds warmth. VCU’s Mario Herrara Meraz found the upper right corner of the nylon from about 25 feet out in the 79th minute to take the 1-0 lead. Then, an onslaught of attacks from Charlotte pursued, but the boys in green recieved no reward for their effort. They finished with a shot advantage of 11-5 and a cornerkick advantage of 5-2.
This ends their attempt to bring home the Atlantic 10 tournament championship, but the main goal of a National Championship is still alive. The selection for the tourney field will occur at 5:30 on Monday.
Over and out gang, have a fun and safe weekend, and stay tuned to the PAD for all your Charlotte 49ers news updates!
