Here are some updated Monday morning projections for the Charlotte 49ers men’s soccer team as they await their placement in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, with the field set to be announced today at 5:30.
TopDrawerSoccer.com: 16th seed
The Top Drawer Soccer rankings are not a true poll in the traditional sense; rather, it’s a projection of the postseason seedings. Based on these projections, the Niners, as a 16 seed, would be granted a 1st round bye and host a 2nd round matchup Sunday
at 7 at Transamerica.
CollegeSoccerNews.com: 15th seed
This projection, a bit more in-depth than TDS, also predicts that the Niners will be seeded and receive a first round bye, and also slots them in the Georgetown region. CSN projects that Charlotte will host the winner of Winthrop (the Big South champion) and Virginia (the 4th team in from the ACC) on Sunday.
College Soccer Madness: Unseeded (first round home game)
College Soccer Madness’ projections line up slightly with CSN’s as far as Charlotte is concerned, but it has left the Niners unseeded. Even though they are still listed in the Georgetown region, it has the Niners hosting Winthrop in the first round, with the winner moving on to face the 11th seeded Hoyas in our nation’s capital.
