Road to Hoover Round 1: Charlotte 49ers VS UAB Blazers

Here we are…the NCAA tournament. The hard work and dedication has been put in, and the images of last year have been shoved in a desk somewhere. It’s gametime baby! The Charlotte 49ers host the UAB Blazers Thursday at 7pm for the second time in 2012, tying 1-1 at Transamerica Field way back on August 31. Here’s the run-down:

2012 Men’s College Cup Hoover, Alabama

UAB

The Blazers (10-7-2, 4-3-1 highway) are comin’ back! Senior #15 Kofi Gyawu clears the path for the UAB men with 6 put-aways and 5 helpers on 51 boots. In their 1-1 draw, Gyawu had the Blazer’s lone goal. This club looks to avenge last year’s NCAA tournament loss to the boys in green when Charlotte took ‘em down 3-1 in Birmingham.

CHARLOTTE

The 49ers (14-3-3, 8-1-2 home) look to make another run at the College Cup, and will accept nothing less. “Juicy” and “Rexy” are the prime-time offensive performers for this squad with a combined 17 goals and 8 assists on 116 whacks.

Foreshadowing Fact:

UAB has 2 red cards this season, will their emotions play a factor?
