Charlotte 49ers Basketball: After win at Davidson, national media abuzz over Niners

Looks like some of the national media is abuzz over the Charlotte 49ers after their 73-69 win over Davidson last night at Belk Arena to go 8-0. Although it’s still early in the season, it’s nice to see the Niners get some a little press. Here’s just a few examples that I saw this morning/afternoon.

Yahoo! Sports–Charlotte proves it should be taken seriously
“Charlotte served notice Wednesday night that its undefeated record may not merely be a product of a tissue-soft early schedule.”

Sporting News–Charlotte vs. Davidson: Pierria Henry, togetherness key 49ers’ unbeaten run
“The fact Charlotte is undefeated at this point of the season is somewhat stunning. The 49ers were picked 12th in the Atlantic 10 preseason media poll but now own a Great Alaska Shootout championship and this win over a good Davidson team. And the way they’ve gone about rolling up this undefeated record is even more stunning.”

Charlotte’s undefeated record isn’t solely a product of its schedule. The 49ers upset Davidson tonight to improve to 8-0.
