Charlotte 49ers Basketball: Women's coach Consuegra rooting for 'Skins on Sunday

Undoubtedly, the #1 priority on Charlotte 49ers women’s basketball coach Cara Consuegra’s list for Sunday afternoon is beating Colgate in the team’s final non-conference game of the season.  After that, she’ll be turning her attention to another game, one that’s played on the professional gridiron.

As NFL fans know, it’s Wild Card weekend.  And the Washington Redskins, led by rookie sensation Robert Griffin III, are set to host the Seattle Seahawks at FedEx Field on Sunday afternoon (our friends over at Riggo’s Rag and 12th Man Rising have it covered through and through).  That game starts at 4:30, two and a half hours after the Niners and Raiders do battle at Halton Arena.  It’s the biggest game in five years for the Skins, and Consuegra, a native of Mt. Airy, Maryland (about an hour’s drive to FedEx Field without traffic*) is sure to be watching.  More often than not, you’ll find #HTTR (Hail to the Redskins) hashtags, retweets about RG3, and other Redskins references on her Twitter feed.

It would be a great Sunday for Consuegra if the Niners beat Colgate.  But, should the Skins beat the Seahawks and their rookie QB, Russell Martin, it would be even better.

*Who are we kidding?  There’s always traffic in the DC area.  About 90 minutes.
