You may as well wipe the Charlotte 49ers’ non-conference record clean. This is where it really counts: Atlantic 10 play. And with newcomers like VCU and Butler in the mix along with Temple, Xavier and others, there’s no time to take a night off. Tonight, the Niners begin their final year in the A-10 at Halton Arena, where they’ll take on the La Salle Explorers.

Scouting La Salle
–The Explorers are coached by Dr. John Giannini. He’s assisted by Horace Owens, Harris Adler and Will Bailey; DBO is Sean Neal.
–They were picked to finish 7th in the A-10, behind Butler and ahead of Dayton.
–The Explorers were an NIT team last year, losing to Minnesota in the opening round.
–La Salle averages 74.3 points per game while allowing 65.3. Three of their starters are in double figures, led by the conference’s leading scorer, Ramon Galloway (17.8 PPG), and Tyreek Duren (15.3). Jerrell Wright pitches in with 10.7 PPG and 6.3 RPG. Steve Zack (6.7 RPG) is the team’s leading rebounder. Beware of Galloway because he can get hot from outside (46.7%; 42-90).
