Countdown to Conference USA: The affiliate members

On this C-USA eve, let’s take a quick look at the affiliate members of Conference USA that compete in sports the Charlotte 49ers compete in.  These are schools that participate in sports that their primary conferences do not sponsor, so they have found their home in C-USA.  We’re leaving out FIU and Old Dominion, which were affiliate members playing men’s soccer, because they’re joining the conference in all sports tomorrow.

Men’s soccer

Kentucky Wildcats

Primary conference: The Wildcats, known more for their basketball team, compete in the SEC along with South Carolina.

South Carolina Gamecocks

NCAA Tournament: 13 seed; lost to fourth-seeded UConn 2-1 in third round
