Charlotte 49ers Football Recruit Confidential: St. Pius X (GA) ’14 LB Daniel Crochet

Over a month ago, the Charlotte 49ers were paid a visit by 2014 linebacker Daniel Crochet from St. Pius X (GA). With offers from schools like App State, Furman, Navy Penn and Syracuse currently out there (to go along with his offer from the Niners), LBs coach Napoleon Sykes hopes that he’ll be able to add the young man to his crop come next year.

Crochet, according to his Twitter feed, enjoyed his visit to the Queen City:

Last season, Crochet was part of a defense that led the Golden Lions all the way to the Class AAA state championship, where they fell to Buford 10-7. As a junior, he racked up 108 tackles (18 for a loss), five sacks and four picks en route to all-state and all-region honors by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Associated Press.  From his highlights (which you can watch right here), he shows a good awareness of where the ball’s going to be and has a knack for getting to the quarterback or ball carrier, as well as good run-stopping ability.

Crochet would be the second 2014 linebacker to commit to Charlotte; not long ago, Tristan Butcher from Coweta (OK) gave a verbal to Brad Lambert and his staff to play in Charlotte.
