Press Clippings: Media coverage of Charlotte 49ers’ first fall practice of ’13


It was certainly a historic day for the Charlotte 49ers football team as the first fall practice of 2013, and by extension the first preseason practice session in program history, got underway at 7am sharp Thursday morning.  Here’s some news from the local and national press about what took place.

Charlotte Observer: Charlotte 49ers football: “It’s for real”
Tom Sorenson: “In less than a month, across the street from the practice fields, the program goes public. It will be a tremendous day for the school and for Charlotte. It often is when underdogs win. Even if the 49ers lose to the Camels, they win.”

Charlotte Observer: 10 questions for Charlotte 49ers football
David Scott: “The starting (QB) job is redshirt freshman Matt Johnson’s to lose – and don’t count on that happening.”

Charlotte Observer: Charlotte 49ers football fan: “Never thought this day would come”
David Perlmutt: “Let the history books show: (Randy) Wieck officially was the first fan to arrive, making him the gridiron 49ers’ first super fan.”
