–Charlotte men’s soccer topped Denver on the road, 2-0, in their first game of the season. Giussi Gentile scored in the 60th minute, then iced it away with a goal in the 89th to put the Niners 1-0 on the young campaign. They’ll host UNC Greensboro on Tuesday in the team’s home opener.
–Cross country: the men and women finished 4th at the season-opening Carolina Challenge, their first event of the season. Next up: the Charlotte Invitation at McAlpine Park next week.
-_Volleyball is 0-2 to start the 2013 campaign, losing in four to CSU Bakersfield before dropping a five-set affair to host Davidson at the Wildcat Classic. They wrap up against Charleston Southern today.
