It’s that time again–time to get going with our Charlotte 49ers roundtable picks for today’s matchup between the Niners and UNC Pembroke Braves. Do the guys think the Niners can take the win on the first ever homecoming football game in school history? We’re about to find out.
The main thing in this one is to not overlook the Braves in this one just because they’re D-II. If they’re able to do that, they should be able to walk off the field with a win and pick up their first ever three-game winning streak going into the bye before a pair of tough games at Charleston Southern and Coastal Carolina. Charlotte 45, UNCP 10
Another ranked opponent enters the Rich this week as #14 (DII) UNC Pembroke comes to town. UNCP is undefeated on the season which includes a victory over DII runner-up from last season, Winston-Salem State. The key to a Niners victory will be to keep the Braves high-powered offense under control and not fall behind early. I think the 49ers will feed off the Homecoming crowd and earn a close victory. Charlotte 31, UNCP 26
Charlotte’s first ever homecoming in the fall should provide a spark for the team after such a dramatic win last week against Gardner-Webb. I don’t think the game will be close, as the 49ers are a far superior team, talent-wise, despite being much younger than the Braves. Charlotte 55, UNCP 21
