It appears that Pierria Henry and Willie Clayton will be the initial go-to players for the Charlotte 49ers this coming season.  Henry, the starting point guard, will no question hold the outcome of some contests in his hands.  Clayton burst onto the scene en route to an Atlantic 10 All-Rookie selection and being named #21 on ESPN.com’s list of the top 25 freshmen in college basketball.

They won’t be able to do it on their own, though.  Several players return for the Niners that seemed to be on the cusp of bigger, better things down the road.  Beyond Henry and Clayton, which of the returning players will break out?  Will it be Terrence Williams, who had some strong showings in several games last year?  Can Mike Thorne evolve into a consistent rebounder and interior threat?  What about Denzel Ingram and Ivan Benkovic?  Ingram showed some flashes while Benkovic, the leading three-point shooter on the team, will look to become more involved in that department for a squad that was only 26.8% from beyond the arc.

Let us know who you think will break out for the Niners this season in the poll below (we’re leaving Henry and Clayton out).  If you have someone else in mind, vote “Other” and post your pick in the comment section below.
