It’s another busy weekend in Charlotte 49ers sports action as several sports are playing over the next few days.
College basketball is back (kind of). The men and women partake in some exhibition action at Halton Arena tomorrow against Wingate and Johnson C. Smith, respectively. Tipoff for the women’s game against the crosstown Bulls 2pm; the men face off against the Bulldogs at around 4:30.
The football team faces its toughest challenge yet as they head down to Conway, SC to go up against #3/#6 Coastal Carolina. Is there an upset in the cards in the Battle of the Carolinas? We’ll find out together tomorrow–kickoff is at 3pm.
Chris Redding and his crew are back home and hoping to get in the win column in Conference USA play for the first time this season. UTSA (Friday, 7pm) and UTEP (Sunday, 1pm) make the flight up from the Lone Star State this weekend.
Niner Nation honors its seven seniors on Saturday night as Marshall comes to town for a 7pm tilt at Transamerica Field. It’s a group that will be remembered for helping the team get to the NCAA championship game in 2011–and hoping to get back to the NCAAs this time around.
The men and women head down to Denton, Texas for the Conference USA championship on Saturday in hopes of bringing back some hardware. One team to keep an eye on: Tulsa, who is ranked 11th nationally.
Golf is out west this weekend at the Pacific Invitational in Stockton, California, with play scheduled until Saturday. They’ll enter play at 11am ET today in a second-place tie overall.
