Quick Hits: Charlotte 49ers vs. Liberty Flames

Liberty-Flames
It’s game day at Halton Arena as the Charlotte 49ers tip off the 2013-14 season at home.  Here’s what you need to know as the Niners open their season against the Liberty Lady Flames at 5pm:

Notes:
–The Lady Flames play in the Big South conference.  They are coached by Carey Green in his 15th season.
–Last year, the Lady Flames went 27-7 and won the Big South championship en route to their second straight NCAA tournament.  They fell in the first round to Purdue, 77-43.
–Ashley Rininger is the team’s top returning scorer.  She scored 6.9 points a game and ripped down 6.4 boards in 34 outings last season.
–The teams have faced each other only once in their respective programs’ history: the 2011 WNIT first round.  In that one, Epiphany Woodson scored 22 in a 62-56 Charlotte win.  Only one current Charlotte player was on the roster: Gabby Tyler.

How to watch and listen:
Charlotte49ers.com will have a paid video and free audio broadcast of the game (Josh Feldman, pxp).

After today’s game, the Niners hop on a plane and head to the Little Apple as they have a date with the Kansas State Wildcats (Brad Lambert’s alma mater).  Tip for that one is set for 1:30 pm ET in Manhattan, Kansas.
