The Niners and Cougars face off tonight at 7pm in Charleston, their first meeting since February 7, 1994–a 71-64 CofC home victory.
Doug Wojcik is the head man at College of Charleston, entering his 2nd season at the helm. Last year’s edition went 24-11 and fell in the SoCon finals to Davidson before a first round exit in the CIT. They’re coming off a 70-48 loss at the KFC Yum! Center to defending national champion and 3rd-ranked Louisville, in which they trailed the Cardinals 29-27 at the break before being outscored 41-21 in the second half. Canyon Barry, son of Hall of Famer Rick Barry, led the Cougars in scoring with 10 points on the day.
Charlotte won their season opener, 80-75, over ETSU at Halton Arena on Friday. Pierria Henry and Mike Thorne Jr. led the way for the Niners with 17 points each in that one, with Henry notching five first-half steals. Thorne and Shawn Lester each had nine boards.
